I hope everyone had a restful summer. The new school year is just around the corner. I am really excited about our new project and some changes happening this year. I cannot wait to see my returning students, and I am excited to meet the new ones.
On the first day of school please make sure to pack your child with a lunch, two snacks and a water bottle. As far as classroom supplies go, all they need is a composition notebook for the first day of school. The rest of the supplies can come in whenever is convenient to you.
The beginning of the school also means a lot of upcoming important dates.
Core Two Meet up 10:30-12:00 Thursday August 11th
We will be meeting near the entrance of Wilderness Park in Redondo Beach. The address is 1102 Cam Real, Redondo Beach, CA 90277. As always siblings are welcome.
New Parent Meeting 3:30-4:00 Monday August 15th and Tuesday August 16th
This meeting is for parents new to DVIA who want support with work journals and a basic introduction to DVIA. There are many new parent meetings going on across cores, and you only need to attend one.
All Class Meeting 2:15-3:15 Thursday August 18th and Friday August 19th
This meeting is will help you learn about the new project and our new portfolio system. This meeting is will give you some useful strategies, and you get a chance to meet new families.
The beginning of the year is a hectic time, especially for families across multiple cores. If you need anything or have any questions, stop by afterschool anytime over the next few weeks.
The first two weeks of school are about establishing routines and getting students back into the flow of the day. As a teacher, I try to make it fun and interesting. We read a lot of story books, do fun science experiments, and have art lessons related to classroom content. I focus on building expectations, work habits and setting a positive tone for the year.
Thank you so much for your time,
Patrick
